Hi All, I did a trade with Nephrite and in the box was a slab of Boulder Opal, this is what I ended up with. I took these pictures in the kitchen with just the regular kitchen lights Thanks Tony. Thanks for Looking! This picture I took with a shade over the cab so the reflection from the lights wouldn't block the color in the cab, still had a small spot or two because of the flash but look at the colors. I love that purple.

Nice cab Jamie. That stuff is fun to play with, don't ya think?
They're easier to do than calibrated shapes Gil. Just look at the slab and it will tell you how it wants to be cut. The best way to learn is to just jump right in and start grinding, and with your new wheels, that part will go fast!

Thanks everyone, Yes Ed, it is fun to play with, I coated it twice with epoxy then sanded it again, coated it, sanded it, finally filled in the voids so it has a smooth surface.
Not sure about the cartoon opal thing, I guess I missed that?

Ya Ya Condor, I have seen all of your cabs, you can't play dumb with me anymore. While we were at Gil's house he pulled out some of the most beautiful cabs I have ever seen that he had cut. Not just a few cabs but cases of them. That is why we call him the closet cabber.

Wow! Jamie, that is beautiful! You did a great job with the shape and polish. Whatcha gonna do with that? Thanks for sharing. Mary P.S. I saw the thread about the cartoon rock, and I'd say you got some of it. I see a few cartoons in it...like a Cosby kid holding a football and a mosaic seahorse and a cartoon pelican straight on. Love the flash and color.

You certainly did that rough looking piece of opal justice! Thanks again for the trade.

Beautiful bolder Jamie!! Please tell me more about the epoxy, sanding, epoxy, sanding, and coating to fill the void. Is that your method to smooth out a pitted cab? I have a couple of cabs that could use a little help. thanks.. Don
