I started playing with some boulder opal again trying to build up my inventory, still looking for that ultimate piece, but unfortunately didn't find it in this batch. But here's what I did find. The first 2 are the same cab, different orientations to show the patterns. This one has the typical multi color opal flash in it, but it's difficult to see from the photo. These next 2 have a lot of greens and reds mixed in the matrix. Thanks for looking.

Man I like 'em. Specially the 3rd and 4th pics... sweet! Those would all be display pieces in my house! Dan

It's a pretty finicky material from what I've seen, but nobody seems to have any trouble making amazing cabs out or this stuff!``I like pic #4!

Very nice! My favorite picture is the third, but I think no 5 looks better in real and its shape is also unique.

I thought you were out of that stuff?? You will find the gem eventually, keep looking. I have cut open the lightest ugliest piece and found the nice red ironstone with opal inside. So with that in mind don't throw out the ugly ones or give them to me! Here is a example of a light one I cut open with incredible cabs inside: The cab from this piece:

Wow! It's very hard to even choose a "best piece" just because even the matrix itself is so dynamic. I do have to go with three though, absolutely amazing pattern on that. Number four is close for the purple/blue river running through it. Awesome job Ed!!
Tony, that's a really cool piece too, it looks like it has flecks of gold in in it.
