This Pokadot comes from Liz's rough, and was the only cab i kept in a group of 14. It measures roughly over 4inches tall. This is a giant Deschutes Cabochon which i got the slab from Dale Rhode years and years ago. It roughly measures just over 5inches tall! The back side is just as nice and polished out too.

That Deschutes is weird looking. Very intersting patterns. I like it. Especially since I've never seen that before.

Nice cabs, the desch is always in the tops for me. I have a nice slab and two rough chunks of the stuff that I can not bring myself to cut. Everytime I think about cutting it up, I pick it up look at it for a while and tell myself I'll do some other time

lol, that too funny Adrian. It is qiute possible i suppose. hahaha
Rich, its only about 7mm thick at the thickest point. With large cabs, reduceing weight is a important part if you plan to sell them to a jeweler.
I first say a belt buckle, then a bolo. But i dont wear either.
I dont often cut large cabs like this Ed, they will not sell, or you must sit on them for a very long time till a collector comes along and wants it. I recently realized more so though, often in nice agates or jaspers. When you cut a slab down into cabs, you can loose such a fine example of a rock. So why not just keep it the way it should. And show it off. As these two and a super large Orb Tiffany stone cab i did 6weeks ago will go into my collection. Next AJ show, have them displayed with newer ones and some of my knifes.
And just so folks know, descutes is a type of Biggs picture jasper. A type within a type kinda thing. Just a different grade but basic same occurance and habit.

Wow! Love the deschutes and love even more that you kept it lifesized. It's phenomenal. I could look it for hours. Too cool.

Thanks for showing the cabs. I had never seen Deschutes before. It really is amazing. Very nice job am I'm glad you kept it large size. You'd have lost a lot of its character if you'd have cut it down.
