Here are my first 7 cabs! Thanks to Redwoodrocks and Snowdog for the slabs, advise and tips. Thanks to Rocklicker for helping me figure out the sanding drum issue and a dozen more of you fine folks who responded to my SOS's!!

Comparatively speaking these 7 aren't much, but I'm happy with them and learned quite a bit! I learned you have to be a little crazy to drive miles and miles to dig rock in the rain. I learned you have to be pretty ingenious and find ways to divert funds from the family budget. I learned you have to be very patient waiting for rocks to surrender to your torture and also the mailman to bring your packages. I learned you have to be half inventor and half mechanic. I learned you have to be Internet savoy and Now I learn you have to be a photography expert!!

PS I also learned there are alot of these crazy, ingenious, inventive, mechanical types out there rubbing rocks and taking pictures. Go figure!!

Well, it looks like you've learned some pretty good lessons. These look great, or at least as far as I can tell from the blurry ones!!! # 2 and 3 have an excellent shine(nice camera) so it looks like you are well on your way.

I was determined to post these TODAY! and the pics were taken inbetween thunderstorms. I took some advise and made a little board to hold the rock and camera. Should get some better shots in the future. Oh yeah, I read a little of the camera instructions too, that might help.

George - My fingertips are a little mis-shaped!

Actually I rough ground 15 more on Monday. All the same round shape, figure I better stick with what works while I'm trying different types of rock!

Adrain - Here in Central Missouri there is mostly sandstone and limestone, but there are chert nodules all over. Mostly gray and black, but a hundred miles West of here I can dig this Mozarkite and it is almost every color in the rainbow. I need to go get more, I try to get small pieces due to only have a WF to cut. Someday I will be looking for basketball size. ;D

Rockds - Man, I hope your picture taking skills are better than mine!! If I got the shine to show then I could see the camera. If I got a clear picture, No shine!
