The fordite im sure would be far to costly and bought up to really justify tumbling. If one could really even locate enough rough to tumble in a single batch. The bowlerine i think would be more ideal in that aspect becasue one should be able to locate material much easier, and problely a heck of allot cheaper than fordite.
I did notice some rough had a core to them, which was a brown pastic, extremely pitted. I believe these cores in bowl ball is for weight and balance. These would have to be cut away or ground away frist before tumbleing. I feel they would play havoc on tumbling cross continmation of grits.

The auto paint intrigues me. I can see a another polishing process that involves a eighth inch layer of resin. But alas all the plane / auto painters I know have all retired.

Amazing stuff. The first group--bowling ball chips are so pretty--but the auto paint pieces...now those are just wild. My hubby would have surely loved them back in the 60s!!!!

You won the "cab weird stuff" contest for sure Those Fordites are something else. Very cool stuff. The big photo of all of them at once is making me dizzy. Steve

Definitely different material. I've made things out of 9 ply baltic birch plywood where I would sand through different layers to get the effect of the Fordite. Cool stuff.

Wow nice job on the Fordite freeform! I have a fair amount of it and checked my notes. You can polish it with cerium oxide on leather. You and stoner do great work! Daniel
