That's your SCRAP???
***red with envy***
It looks like Yowah opal ... mined near Koroit. As always, fantastic work on the cabs. I hope you realize that it's all your fault that I've now included opals in my daily eBay searches! Shame on you!

Nephrite,
If you need to get rid of any more of your scrap just send it here and I will be happy to sort through it for you. (I don't even have enough rocks yet to make a pile, let alone have a pile of leftover scrap. :-) )
I can't believe those pieces were in your scrap pile. They are beautiful.

I don't usually make a practice if scrounging through people's garbage bins. But if people have "scraps" that look like that then I may have just found myself a new hobby.
Nice work, mate.
I wonder if I could convince the wife and kids to do the 11 or so hour drive out to the Koroit opal fields. There's always next year's holiday.

Nephrite,
That is a very tempting invite. I've never been to California. Maybe someday. :-)

One80Mike, before you go out there, it would be wise to call ahead and make plans. I saw some videos of a couple of the mines, and their signs make it crystal clear that they don't want visitors. You can find a lot of videos on YouTube.
I bought some Aussie opals off of a guy who mines in Queensland half of the year, and does commercial fishing in Alaska the other half. He lives on a small island off of the coast of Alaska. VERY kewl guy!
