Hope y'all aren't tired of Red plume yet This one was fun, I have no idea what it is. The matrix was as rough as concrete so was not sure how it would do but it came out ok. Yes there are some pits, some were filled after 400 but even after 6k more showed up. I liked the yellow spots so am going to bore you with one more. The flash inside this rose quartz is almost like looking into a diamond in person, the camera just could not pick it up. Btw that is not a sanding mark upper right just flash. My kid and his new wife left today for a couple of days in Miss. back to germany and then Bahgdad. so after I could see normal again I cranked a few out. Funny thing my stash is growing smaller! Between three daughters, two daughters in law, my mother, and a ex gf s mother they are dwindling down. I love it!!! Spike

Nice domes and great polish on those. Looks like you and beef are on the same page for the cab holder. A nice touch.

Nice cabs...But I think we're all getting quite tired of the Red Plumes. Just send it my way so you can get a hint and quit posting those things. NOT!!!! I love the Plumes but my fav has to be the Dendritic. Very Nice and I do like the Cab Holder. Steve

Looking good Mark. Nice cut on the WWR plume. I really like the shape and cut on the second one and looks like you got a great shine on it too. If your cab stash is getting smaller, it only means you're not cutting enough cabs!!!

The cab holder will end up in a aquarium as soon as I am able to start another one. I busted it out of basalt at Woodward ranch, cut my finger and got the worse infection I have ever had. red streaks up my arm and all that stuff. My aquariums are local natural as in Bass, Crappie, Pumpkinseeds etc.
My regular holder is at the cleaners (soaking in acid) but I doubt it will get any better than it is right now, it came from the same area but 2 miles south and east. what a crazy place that is.
Ok, back to the cabs. on the right side of the red plume a crystal popped out somewhere during the 50k probably due to the heat build up. I didn't see it until now but will fix it tomorrow. I should not have posted the Rose Quartz, it is amazing in person but is a dud in the picture.
Thank you for the kind words
Spike

I can tell you're playin' favorites, Spike - the only one you didn't bad mouth is the dendritic one. I got my eye on number two, though. Rich

I love never getting tired of looking at beautiful cabs. My favorite is the one you describe as: "no idea what it is". I especially like the 'eye' that is looking out of the upper right corner. Gives new meaning to the phrase: "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." Lady B

Ha Rich, I could write paragraphs about the trouble I had with that one. It is milk opal, and apparently rebels against cabbing, two out of four developed the same problems. I only have a couple more small pieces that will be freeforms and if the same things happen I will try to get a pic of them so I can ask. My new daughter inlaw picked a similar cab but I thought this one would be better before I cabbed it, the bails I ordered had not arrived before they had to leave (of course they arrived 30 mins after they left) so I will send both tomorrow.
I have to apologize at this point for the long drawn out posts (including this one) things here are not good, Grandma has been giving me fits, my second born is headed back to Iraq, and my first born will be going at the end of November (he is the one I am worried about). I am close to throwing in the towel with Grandma so every single rock that touches a wheel is a S.R.C.
Thank you all for putting up with my rantings.
Mark

Those are fantastic Mark! The dendritic is my fav, followed closely by the red plume. Nice job!
I wish you the best with your family.. at least you're in tune with the best stress reliever around.
