here is a batch for ya! i've been working on these for a while and finally finished them today. this first one is some sort of picture jasper and you know how you are working this stuff, it hardly ever turns out how you thought it would, and as you are working the stone, working the stone, in the zone, working the stone, you start to see stuff?? what do YOU see in this one (two diff views, 30mm x 22mm) next up is a fairly boring looking set, but the story behind the stone makes up for it. my aunt (who is also my godmother) gave me a collection of rocks that she'd collected over the years on her travels, there weren't many and they weren't all that interesting, but they meant something to her. so, i decided to make a "Three Generation" set for her (25mm x 18mm), her daughter (18mm x 13mm) (who is MY godchild) and her little girl (14mm x 10mm) for this coming Christmas: this next one (25mm x 18mm) came from a slab Steve Holmes sent me, don't know what it is, but the second shot shows it backlit and that purple on the bottom has to either amethyst of some sort of fluorite? Steve also sent me a chunk of hickoryite (this is also 25mm x 18mm): next up is a piece of rhodocrosite (18mm x 13mm) and a small (14mm x 10mm) jasper that snowdog sent me, i think he called it "candy cane jasper"?? don't remember. a 25mm x 18mm porcelain exotica jasper: a montana agate (also 25mm x 28mm) and a backlit shot: two (25mm x 18mm) lace agates from a chunk that Kim sent me: a 30mm x 22mm of what Liz181 called "Arkansas Turquoise", the photo sucks but the stone is beautiful (taken with flash to try and show the color and detail): a 30mm x 22mm brazilian agate oval backlit: and not backlit, kinda dull: and last but not least, some of Jamie's chysocolla (18mm x 13mm and 25mm x 18mm) and a 18mm x 13mm turquoise oval (taken with flash). thanks for looking!!! KD

KD, you sure have been busy. Wow. They're all gorgeous.
Love the story about your aunt and the "three generation" set you made. She's gonna love it.
Thanks for the pics and the story.

Wow Kd, very cool. Like them all but the porcelain exotica jasper is really elegant.

Great bunch of cabs KD. In the first one I see a bearded guy with a mustache and a light colored afro. What do I win?

Love the cabs and love the stories/details that accompany them. But I especially love the first cab in the second orientation...the one with the profile of the Golden Retriever! So who wins, me or Ed?
Did anyone notice that happy, dancing fellow in the second of the two lace agates from a chunk that Kim sent? And what about that golden retriever--it jumped from one cab to another (the cab from the slab Steve Holmes sent) and is now sitting beside its master!!!?!?
Where were these cabs when I was looking for images for the poetry contest, hmmmmm?? ;D

That first one looks like you erased some of the cab... pretty awesome all of them, hard to pick a favorite.
Don't you sometimes wish you could add a little light to the back of some cabs, it makes them all that much nicer...

lol, everyone saw the man's face in that first cab, i must admit, i've been sitting here looking at it and i can't see the Golden Retriever that Lady B does. in the first orientation, i see a woman looking into her baby's cradle but i also see the top part of an Emperor penguin wintering the long night......
anyone else?
also, thank you all for the kind comments,
KD

Boy you know, I just love crazy lace agate. I think is always been a very underrated agate because years ago the good stuff was so common and cheap. Now the good stuff is scarce and that last cab of yours is a real good one! Love all the beautiful blues too!....Mel

That's it...my mouse can't keep up with all this scrolling! I can see an arab dude like Stefan, and in the first pic I see a cocker spaniel looking up. It's ears are the banded areas. I love reading what everyone else sees. I'm still looking for the rest of them. What about that one in the 5th pic....it looks like a person shucking corn, eating peas while a cow is doing the limbo with the rhino....see it??? GOTCHA!! Steve

Great cabs!
Ok, the first photo. I see the top of a chocolate ice cream cone. See the tip of the cone, yum! Second photo, I see a closeup of a poodle's head. The fluff on top is the topknot and the big spot at the bottom is its nose. LadyB will probably be the only other one to see that. Since Im a groomer Im always seeing dogs in things.
What a great story on that set of three.
