Duct tape nail covers work for me..... until the water gets them. Then it is back to 5 minute epoxy and dowels until the nails heal. I find eating a gelatin packet every day or so helps get the nails back strong quicker. And no... I'm not weird. Try it, it works. T

I use my fingures and have gotten myself a few times. Once so bad I used clear nail polish to fill in the groves in my nail until it grew out.

I just love the feeling when the edge of my index fingers push against the corners on a brand new SiC grinding wheel! NOT! I yelp like a puppy that has had its tail stood on. And then when may nails have been ground and blasted so much that they feel as thing as tissue paper and start to tear too far down...that's the best! NOT!
But it is worth every bit of it.
My wife has no sympathy she just shakes her head and remains silent. At least I know she stilll loves me.

This is what my index fingernail looked like about a year ago BEFORE I started using dops. It's just now looking like a normal fingernail. Actually, the reason I started using dops was because when the weather got cold last year, my fingertips started cracking and they hurt so bad I couldn't hold on to the cabs. I think my cabs, especially the domes, have gotten much better by dopping. The one thing I don't like about dopping is that I don't polish the backs until I either sell the cab or give it away.
