I keep grinding away at it Some lace, some of John's mozarkite, some yard quartz, and the last two I have questions about. The little one is quartz with some jet black goodies inside. I thought it might be tourmaline. I haven't worked tourmaline yet, but there is lots in the quartz around here. I've heard the tourmaline near me (Hogg mine) is kind of soft and brittle, but this is as hard as the quartz around it. And took a great polish. Anyone have ideas as to what it might be? I didn't want to grind on it any more at this time, but might want to go back to it. And ... the round one. I don't think it is quartz related... there is no transparency to any of it. And it isn't fractured like most of the yard quartz. Any ideas as to what it is? If it isn't quartz or granite, I don't have much of a clue, but I'm slowly learning. Thanks, Tony bellsouthpwp.net/t/w/twaterer/cabs2nd.html
