Unfortunately, Dryheads are often fractured and when you slab them they tend to come apart. That was the case with the two slabs that yielded these cabs. Seemed like a shame to try to make them into calibrated cabs, so I just shaped them up and threw them in the vibe. Limestone undercut a bit on the back of a couple of them but all in all, a pretty batch of salvage material and if I ever bezel them up, the undercut won't show anyway...Mel

Those came out looking really sweet Mel, if you hadn't told us, I think any of us would have guessed those to be perfectly as intended, fantastic for salvage pieces!

I love dryhead. I've got some polished face pieces that I am in no hurry to cab. This one is a heel with a about a 2x2 pattern

Star: That is an awesome Dryhead! Love the full face pattern and the colors. Don't see many that nice!. I don't know how you fell about cabbing, but I'd only chop up those Dryheads that are fractured anyway. Ones that pretty should be kept intact as there may not be many more around!...mel

Beautiful cabs. I wouldn't call them salvage at all. I think they're first rate.

Those are great. There is something about the color in Dryhead that seems so unique.

Those look purdy. I am a big fan of dryheads and know about how hard they can be to cut. It looks like you were lucky enough not to get that soft rock in the centers. I'm not talking about that nice quartzy stuff in the slab but that calcite-like stuff you sometimes come across. Steve
