Decent day for cabbing, my Aunt came to take care of Grandma and a couple of showers cooled things off a bit. The results: Green Moss Agate Big Brazilian I'm not sure, from Robert. But starting to agree with Tonya Back to Crazy lace, how can I not mess with it? Same And a short video showing the domes, yeah I know it is self serving but since you can't see them in person .... s128.photobucket.com/albums/p175/spikeict/?action=view¤t=100_0568.flvHope y'all like em, my back and legs are killing me so headed for bed. Yep, looks like it was good weather for cabbing. Nice job Mark. Nice video too. What you were doing in your video, rocking the cabs back and forth under a flourscent lamp, is a good way to check on the eveness of your domes. If the reflection of the lamp tube flows straight across the dome, then your dome is smooth and even. If the reflection of the lamp wavers across the dome, then you have uneveness in your domes. Try it, you'll see what I mean.

Kind of confused Ed. That was in the dining room under a five lamp Chandler so maybe it showed some unevenness, but I did the same motions looking at them with both a regular magnifying glass and a 10x before I was satisfied. Maybe I should have picked better lighting?
Just went back and looked at it again, I understand now how it could look that way with all the bulbs.

I wasn't referring to these cabs in particular, just passing on some info on how to check the domes on cabs in general. This info was for you and anybody else who is starting out cutting cabs as it's a good test. I still use it today.

I was told about the fluorescent light trick also (Rick from the rockshop in Sna Jose no less). I don't have a light like that but I found if you look really carefully at the reflaction from a standard bulb you can sort of tell. Gotta get me a light like that. Steve

Very nice work Spike. Yep, that 3rd one is very nice. Is it Ocean Jasper? I love the lace, it has gorgeous patterns. Now with these prime subjects, are you going to wrap them? Thanks for the photos, and relax your back & legs now! LOL Tonja

Very nice cabs Rich. If it rains a little more and your Aunt comes over for Grandma...I think we'll all be in for a treat. Steve

Oh, ok ;D. Yeah I can see how that would help, wish now that I had bought a different under the cabinet light. Thanks for the tip.

More beauties.. Is that Green Moss from W. Texas? From the other ranch? Can't think of the name right now.
Anyway.. I like the video too. Ed's suggestion makes perfect sense. That's the way an automobile body repair man checks his work as well.

Thanks all, Tonya I am starting to think it is OJ. Dan, the Green Moss came from a rock shop in a box marked Kansas Green moss, for life of me I have no idea where it is collected around here.. That was the third preform I tried with it, the others split while on the wheel from nothing apparent. Did two more this morning: The Panhand Flint worked really nice and is being shown because I don't remember a lot of it here. The Carnelian in crystals I have been waiting to cab for awhile. I is probably one my favorites so far. Thats all for awhile, and thank you all for the kind words. Spike
