Those are fantastic Joe! I love the kite shape.. and that second oval really stands out to me! Is Happy Camp a nephrite or jadeite or..?

Beef- in my limited experience I think Happy camp and Klamath region "jades" are often silicified and metamorphosed serpentines, but regardless of their chemical composition, they sure do cut some awesome looking cabs!

Happy Camp Jade..is neither nephrite or jadeite..it is not a true jade at all...it is a mix of many minerals..the mix includes Vesuvianite, Grossular Garnet, and Serpentine...the best green pieces are Vesuvianite, the best white pieces are Grossular Garnet...and the pieces that are mixed contain any or all of the above...the serpentine softens and lightens the Vesuvianite, the Grossular Garnet can put some beautiful veins or lighten, and make the Vesuvianite more translucent..and harder..the serpentine in the Grossular Garnet can create some pretty inclusions that kind of float in the garnet..it might show on one side..and not be noticable on the reverse side..when the Vesuvianite is inclueded in the Grossular Garnet..you can get some wonderful variances..including green dots...hints of green...and green swirls..and can be an exciting mix of minerals..the name Happy Camp Jade seems to have stuck with rockhounds..so that is how I refer to it...but will gladly explain to the best of my knowledge and understanding....what my stones really are...hope this helps...also stay tuned..I could have an interesting annoucement late this year..to early to leak anything..thanks to all..South Fork Mining...Rich

Thank you all! I really enjoyed working this material. Thanx Rich, for jumping on and answering Beef's question far better than I could. Now what about this announcement???!
