This is the other cab I cut yesterday, couldn't really get a good pic of the design as that darned ol' polish got in the way Here's a shot kinda tilted to see the 'orbs' better I don't know what this material is.. some kind of picture jasper I guess. Very 'gemmy'. Here's what some of the raw stuff looks like.. any ID's? Thanks!

Brian, You simply amaze me! That green is so dark and purrty and the shape is totally cool. Don't have a clue on the picture jasper. Steve

Could that be Imperial Jasper? Beautiful stuff, and very nice cab.

Beautiful cab, Brian.
The rough looks more like Morrisonite to me, rather than imperial jasper.

Yeah I was going to guess Morrison or Hart Mtn Jasper, very fancy stuff, and that shine, fantastic!

My guess is that the material is Blue Mountain jasper. I'm surprised the cab turned out so dark. I cut some dark orby Blue Mountain cabs, but the material started dark and gemmy.

I vote on Imperial- just the way the orbs lay on the rough made me think Imperial- Still Beautiful stuff either way!

Yup, I agree, Blue Mountain Picture Jasper. Lucky Strike T-Egg mine guy owns the dig in eastern Oregon. Definitely one of the nicer porcelain jasper types...Mel

Stefan - I was looking at the orbs too for the Imperial idea. I'll accept the other claim though...haven't seen much Blue Mountain make any claim about it. I'll put it in my memory for the next time, though.
