My husband and I met the sweetest little kindred spirit while on vacation. She was the owner of the "treehouse" bed and breakfast we stayed at. She was in her 70's and was just a riot to be around. I collected a bunch of rock on the river on the edge of her property. And although she herself has collected a lot of rock for her yard, I dont think she knows how nice they could look cabbed. I decided that I would like to make a wrapped pendant for her out of the local material I found by her house. I cant decide which one she would like best (since we didnt really KNOW her). One is a piece of pastel jasper and the other ( I think) is pet wood. It was very organic and "wood" looking on the outside. If not then its probably a jasper/agate mix. Anyhoo, which one do you guys think would be best for a little elderly sweetheart? My husband says the pastel because its girlie but I like the red with the white because it catches your eye more. Thanks! Shannon

I would do the pastel. If it's intended as jewelery, the white might be too jarring.

That is something I never thought of. The white is significantly more "bright" in this photo than in real life. The sun is directly on it and is producing a glare, sorry about that.

I like the pastel. It has lots of colors so could be worn with a wide variety of clothing.

"in her 70's and was just a riot to be around" You said it yourself, go with the red. Had she been sitting in her rocking chair and just pointed out where the key was I would say the other.
Sounds like she enjoys life and would enjoy something a little bolder.
Btw God bless you for this act of kindness, I have always tried to do the same kind of thing. Sometimes it takes me longer to find just the right stuff than I would like though.

Thanks for the comment Spike! You would love Sheree. She runs the whole resort while her husband sits in his underwear watching tv ( I know this because thats how he was every morning when we went to the lodge for breakfast).
Sheree raised her boys alone on very little income, they grew or raised everything they ate, she did all of her own hunting, gutting and skinning. When my husband couldnt figure out their barbecue SHE came downstairs and showed HIM how to do it LOL.
One morning over breakfast she said "Ive got a squirrel that keeps getting in my garden. If he doesnt leave it alone you guys may have squirrel gravy with your breakfast some morning". And then she cackled........she had an unforgettable laugh.
They are retiring and closing the resort this fall, after running it for 10 years. But she said she liked us and that WE could come back and stay in the main suite under the lodge (their house).
The elderly deserve utmost respect. And they have the most wonderful stories to tell if you just take the time to listen. Bless her heart, she deserves a pretty pendant.

Of course, I'd say do BOTH! ;D BUT, if I had to choose one I would say go with the pastel jasper. To me it seems like it would have the best potential to "go with" more things an elderly woman might wear (not that i'd really know).

I like the one of the left. I think it would make a better cab.
