Rosebud Agate is a hard agate like montana or parral agate. The bud colors can be red, cobalt blue, yellow and white....and the agate itself can be blue, white and clear. It is found in the western Oklahoma panhandle,Texas panhandle,NE New Mexico and south west Kansas. It appears at first to be moss agate,it is not.The buds can vary in size and give the apperance of being moss.First a slab of the rough.......... This is a good cab to show why its called Rosebud Red,clear and white another RED Last one Brad

I see gold dust in that first beauty as well. Red #4 sure does look like plume, gorgeous. (#5's not loading for me right now)
Thanks for postin' the Rosebud, Brad. Never seen it before.

Thanks for the rough pic, Brad! I really like seeing what the material looks like. All really nice, but that first one is very interesting! T

Some really nice looking stuff. Oklahoma, yet another state that has better rocks than here.

Thanks all,yep rosebud is a favorite,so much so I am planning spring break vacation just to go collect some.
Tony, funny you say what you do about rocks in your area. Here in this part of the state I live in there is sand and more sand. Its a good 4 hour or more drive to any decent rock collecting.I would love to be in your area just for the fossil collecting.

Hi Brad, Good luck finding any fossils here. Almost every single decent site is now closed or you need to have an "in" with the property owner. I stumbled across a website from a guy in New Jersey who has some incredible fossils collected here in PA. He gets them all from private property. He wasn't willing to share any of his sites. Only one I know that's left is a coal mine spoilage pile about 1 1/2 hour north of here, just ferns there. Haven't been there yet but I expect it to be very picked over at this point.
