Today I sat down to do a few cabs. One of the first pieces I chose was a nice chrysocolla.Got it dome done and at my 1200 wheel.....the air suddenly turned blue!I was cussing up a storm the blankety blank thing starts undercutting.I layed it aside for a better frame of mind to finish it.Later looking at it hmmmmm, that looks like a dragon spewing green fire. Now I have to finish the darn thing for sure...........

I see the dragon too. The undercut is not so visible, you softened it nice, go finish it.

Way cool! I love dragons.
I don't know anything about cabbing - is there a chance you might lose the image if you do any more work on the stone? I remember someone who lost the "8" on their stone and was disappointed.
Not to question your judgement, you're the cabbers, and you are all talking about finishing it... so could you help me understand what steps are left, so I know why it is safe to do more work on this stone? Not too much detail, I'm not a cabber (yet?), but thanks!

Amy what I am going to do in this case is backup one grit stage, which on my machine is 600 grit.I will smooth out the surface again and then go from there to a cotton wheel and polish it with zam.Normally I would go 600,1200,3000,8000,then polish.
