This is one of the first pieces of rock I ever owned, I thought at the time it was ocean jasper, now I'm not sure what it is! My first stab a Picture Jasper. Is this Chrysocolla? This stuff here is super soft and I cannot get it to shine, I do like it though, may have to send it to Mel for an id. Thanks for looking. john

I love it, love it, love it. Can you tell I like this stone? I like the round shape. Seems to really bring out the orbs. Would love to find some of this myself.

John, First cab is Kabamby Jasper, more opaque than Ocean jasper and from an inland source in Madagascar. #2 is either McDermitt , Disaster peak or Arroyo Picture Jasper ( these all have variations that look a lot alike- I'd guess Arroyo if I had to pick one) #3 does look like Chrys in matrix and if you hadn't said it was very soft, I'd peg the last one as some kind of wonderstone-like rhyolite. If that soft, it could be kaliche which also looks like a picture jasper but is more of a limestone material that is found in Texas and New Mexico....Mel

John, you really seem to be getting the hang of cabbing. Good work there.

I think it is Chrysocolla; the reddish brown is probably cuprite and the whitish stuff quartz; this is typical in the AZ Chrysicolls. I think the dragon stone has more of a greenish blue tint and redder red. I heard some call it dragon blood stone; if I am think of the same thing. Desertdweller could probably confirm the idea as she is our local expert on the material. Great cabs by the way. You could coat the soft one with hotstuff and shine it on a cabbing machine.
