These were part of the vibe batch I just finished up. I cut them this summer on the WF and threw them into a tumbler as I didn't have a cab grinder yet. They went one round in rough in the tumbler and were finished up in the vibe. I learned that you have to be careful what rocks you use as some of these pitted a fair amount. The whole group, note the one on the bottom right. Two unknowns and strawberry quartz. Mozarkite, pet wood and an unknown. Turitella And my favs, polka dot jasper from Oregon. I got this on ebay and was told it was old stock from the 60's. Wish I had some to cab by hand. Thanks for looking and any ID's on the unknowns would be appreciated. Tony M

Nice job Tony. Montana agates look really nice as flats as do lots of rocks with thin inclusions like the plumes etc. I know several people that hammer break slabs and tumble them for wire wrapping. Instant free forms.

Wow that's a nice batch. I don't think the turritella is turritella though. Instead of fossil shells I think what you have there is orbicular rhyolite similar to the material found at the Grandview Gold Mine site here in Cally....Mel

I like ste shield below the round turitella in the first pic, and the unknown in the midle of the 2nd pic. The polka dot is beautiful, too.

Great stuff Tony!
There are only 2 things wrong with tumbling cabs. The soft stuff won't polish and the rock that has soft spots will undercut. I've managed to some extent get around the undercutting, but still cannot get the softer materials to take a good shine.

Looking good Tony, the turitella has to be my fav though. Don't feel bad about the undercutting in that one, some rocks just don't want to co-operate.
