Hey ya'll been awhile since I posted any cabs. It seems I've had the worst luck with these 4 cabs. THis one is Picture Jasper. When I slabbed this I was so dissapointed. Nothing but brown and black inside. Well I managed to find a really cool area ( i thought) to cab. Anyway as I ground it the black pattern kind of dissapearred. Boy was a pi$$ed. So I was left with nothing but brown. Oh well, I continued on with it cause I need the practice. It sure did take a fabulous shine though. So shiny you can see my camera and hands in the reflection. Before: the preform After This piece I believe is a piece of Rainforest Jasper. When I bought some lakers from Snowdog this was one on the "filler" pieces. It seems this type of jasper has some really soft spots. It kept breaking off in the yellow area. And some of the green seemed a little soft too. Well I finally got it shaped and was on the last wheel when it broke again. Dang it! What is going on? Before: the preform After This is a piece of Plume. From Snowdog too. (same laker box) This one was going along great until a druzy pocket opened up. It still looks great on top but a piece came out along the girdle. It really took a great shine. Before: the preform After This was a little piece of OJ that I didnt want to tumble. It's about the size of my index finger fingernail. There is a little undercutting in the very center of the little yellow orbs. It is so shiny I couldn't get a very good pic that shows the true color. Green and pink. Before: the preform After THanks for looking. ~~Mitzi~~

Lol, welcome to the wonderful world of cabbing Mitzi. So many times I have a colorful piece of wood and by the time I get a crown on it, half the color is gone.
You got an incredible shine on those! My favorite is the plume. That thing is beautiful!

Nice work Mitzi, really good shine. I like that plume, it has a lot going on. Its a shame about the girdle.

Sometimes the stones just won't do what you want them to do, but I think you did very good against these. The plume is awesome and the OJ came out really nice.

Really nice! That plume is stunning. Yeah, I'm having rainforest jasper fly apart on me practically as we speak. It seems worth the hassle if I can shoot a tad of HotStuff in a hole of my current one and finish it, though; it's unique stuff. I'm glad I got a couple of slabs at the local shop (it sold out fast).

Those are great! It seems like you handled the obstacles each of these threw at you with ease! I also love the before and after shots. Really makes you appreciate the skill involved I think!
