Howdy folks, Well, got the old Genie up and running again. Started shaping my preforms and getting them ready for bezel marking an putting on the sticks. Man, it's slow though cause my coarse wheel is real worn. Have a new one somewhere if I can just find it. These are all ready for the dops except the Tee Pee canyon which needs a little more work on one end. Also gonna try the Brazilian as sort of a Cabojohn -type geometric cab. It's pretty thin so I'll make it a shallow domed cushion cut. I always cut about 30-40 preforms before I go to the dop pot as I like to do them in stages. Also think I'll have a go at dry sanding in the vibe and prepolishing and polishing in the 33B rotary. Actually been getting fantastic shines in the tumbler lately with that Rockshed AO polish. Here's a pic of my first 7 ready for the sticks....Mel

Beautiful preforms, I think that the dino bone will come out great. And not only that one.

Mel, I like how you show photos of your preforms prior to the end result. I think more of us should do that. Its nice to see how they all start out. After all, we all love rocks, from the rough to the final gem and its nice to see every stage. And you always post such great materials too.

Real nice material there Mel. Looks like some fine cabs waiting to be done. I can't wait to see them when you're finished.

Ed *L* Nope not done yet. Cut four more preforms today. Maybe 19 or 29 more to got before I move to the next stage. Like to work batches of 30-40 at a time so I can use the vibe for the sanding phase....Mel
