Howdy folks, Still working on preforms. Yesterday was the day to encounter some problems. The really nice Royal Imperial nodular jasper wound up with a nasty fracture exposed on the back. Will try for a shallow dome to keep it from breaking ( I hope). The Wingate Plume has pits in the yellow parts that will need filling.The Marfa Black and White came off the stick. The Morgan Hill had to be cut in sort of a weird oval to prevent losing most of the pattern, and the neat red bird I found in a Dryhead has two vugs, one on the lower top and one on the bottom edge which will be problematic. Grinding this one may remove the bird design too so I may just throw it in the vibe as is and see if I wind up with a usable stone. Anyway, that's the way it goes sometimes.
