I decided to take a break from the Amazon Valley and I have been wanting to cab up some of Desertdweller's (Jamie) chrysicolla. I knew it was top notch material; I picked out a slab with lots of gem silica and one that looked super solid without any gem silica. Both came out great; it's a lot easier to make a nice looking cab when you got great material. On my continued quest to try different materials to use to break up the background so the camera can focus on the cab, I use casting wax pellets. The one with the gem silica; it has tiny sparkly flashes in the sun light. The more jaspery looking material. I have used chrysicolla from other sources that was more porous and I had to use hot stuff to seal it up. This one was solid and needed no treatment. As I said great material. I was thinking of Nephrite diving for jade when I was cutting this. The slab had a lighter area so I put that at the bottom. I envision Nephrite near the bottom with a light looking for the treasures from the deep. Thanks for looking

The second one is from a place we call secret squirrel.
You still want some thunder eggs? The insides are just chalcedony but some have some whispy looking things in them. Let me know ok?

Nice cabs Larry. I gotta say though that I really don't like the background. Its too bright and draws my eye away from the cabs.

Really nice! I'm playing with some of Jamie's chrysacola, too, and the colors are magnificent. I'm so new at this that I'm having some problems getting solid pieces so that I don't end up with chunks flying out of unfinished cabs. I guess I'll just have to keep trying. Darn. Does that mean I have to spend MORE time cutting rocks? ;D
