Hello everybody! Since today is my birthday (happy birthday to you too, Jonje) I've decided it's my turn to organize a contest . I am not a cabber, so the prize is not a cab as usual. But I think that it's "cabbable" (sorry if the word it's unusual but it's funny and, by the way, you're welcome to correct my English anytime it's necessary). It's a slab (end-cut) of wood from my country, polished (by me) on one face, thickness 5 to 10 mm. I left the back natural, as it is almost flat. The celular structure is visible (see the close-up in second picture) with a light microscope. So, the rules are: - let's keep the name simple: at most three words (not counting the linking ones such as with, to, etc); - everyone may choose a single name; you can change your mind and the last post will be taken into account; - the deadline is next wednesday evening (evening at me, probably morning/noon in US, and in Australia ... better you tell me, Mike) [glow=red,2,300]-precisely till 3 pm according to the official time of RTH[/glow] - then a family meeting (with my 13 years old daughter as president) will choose three to five names which will be posted for the poll. Sorry for not having a better rock, I'm a beginner in slabbing. Good luck and thank you for participating, Adrian

Well I have to say it's a very nice piece.
the image on the front looks like (Manny) the mammoth chasing that sloth (Sid) as the iceberg splits wide open
So my try is: [glow=red,2,300]Ice Age[/glow]
Also [glow=red,2,300]Happy Birthday[/glow]! Hope you have a wonderful day!

Wow! Just one day and sooo many names! You unleashed your imagination and saw in this slab so many things! KD, here in Romania there are one or two spots with some petrified wood, but by far not as rich as your "petrified forest". This slab is from there. These spots are far from where I live, so I search my wood mostly in riverbeds. Not so many, but I think that's good, as I am more happy when I find one than if they were a lot. To have an idea, last year I've found on riverbeds some 40 pieces (my best day was 10 pieces, but I consider a good day even if I return home with one nice piece). Adrian
