Here is the challenge and the prize (click for full size 200dpi)
Valid entries will consist of 5 or more shapes intended to function as a set. This could be a center tile and border tiles, or some other intarsia, or a pendant with 3 stones and matched earrings, or a ring, a broach, earrings, and a single pendant.
You do not need to show the anticipated setting, but if you have the skill, I will look at it.
You can download the photo and use your favorite software to cut the shapes out f th slab and past them on a new background. (You can write in shape sizes, but I will check, still it will get posted faster if you do the sizes.) IF you send the 5 pieces in separate files, tell me w to orient and assemble them.
You can post here, or PM to me, and I will re-post here at the top. (IF you want to print out a color photo 6.95x4.85 and draw your shapes onto the printout, you can mail it to me.) I will put them up as I get them, so you might hold back to avoid giving your ideas away, but if you do it 1st and do it well, the next person would need to do it really well to get past the "originality" requirement, so there may be as much advantage to going 1st.
If someone here offers you critique, you can modify your post upto the deadline, but if you change to look like someone else, they will be considered the original.
The judging will consider originality, beauty of the assembly, utilization of the slab's features, mostly this will be a judgment of 5 cabs with consideration given to how well they go as a set and what use the set is proposed for.
I am in DC next week and in Oregon the week after that. I will be online, but let's let the contest end when I get back. Monday Jun-11 at 9pm eastern time.
If you are mailing an entry, I need it in my box by Sat Jun-9th. Sooner better.
