Several RTH Members have indicated their interest in the Poetry of Images Contest but their aversion to/discomfort with writing a poem "out of thin air" is strong. I have suggested using an existing poem as a basis for creating a new one. Here is an example of how easily that can be done by just following the rhyming scheme and basic rhythm of the original poem. My poem is inspired by "Beefjello 3" A Red, Red Rose by Robert Burns My love is like a red, red rose That’s newly sprung in June : My love is like the melody That’s sweetly played in tune. As fair art thou, my bonnie lass, So deep in love am I : And I will love thee still, my dear, Till a’ the seas gang dry. Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear, And the rocks melt wi’ the sun : And I will love thee still, my dear, While the sands o’ life shall run. And fare thee weel, my only love, And fare thee weel a while ! And I will come again, my love, Thou’ it were ten thousand mile. | A Promised Heart by Lady B
My love is like a polished stone That’s newly shaped by thee. My love is like a cabochon That’s sweetly given me.
And so to you, my handsome boy, So easy on the eye, I pledge to love you evermore, Until the day I die. Until the day I die, my love, And rocks no more are ground : I pledge to love you evermore, By honor I am bound. Through this quartz heart, my handsome boy, Our love is pledged again! My heart is yours, my own beloved, Until all time shall end. |

Or you could just stare at the blank computer screen until beads of bloods appear on your forehead.

Or you could just stare at the blank computer screen until beads of bloods appear on your forehead. Ohhh, good start, Hermatite, good start! Consider "Desertdweller 2" " Beads of Blood upon my forehead Broken arrow at my feet"... or perhaps "Beefjello 3" " Beads of Blood Heart of Stone"... Oh, I can't wait to read your finished poem(s)! My poetry (as Dorothy Parker once famously said) fills a much needed hole. My skill lies chiefly in gasping in awe at the efforts of others. Not everyone can be in the parade...someone has to sit on the curb and clap.

You are so funny!!! ;D Hmm, not entering poems...So now I guess I'll just have to wait to see who you clap for and cheer on when the voting begins! Lady B
