Oh, how'd I'd love to go. No so much for the rock show, but because Banff, Lake Louise, and Jasper are only a hop, skip, and a jump from there. Rose, do you live in that area? Tell me stories about what it's all like. Send me pictures. My family and I visited out there two years ago, and I can hardly wait to go back. Don't know when, but I will.

Hi Condor Yes we moved here in Feb, and are living about 30 kilometers from Calgary. We went to Banff for the weekend a couple of weeks ago it was beautiful as always. Here is a panoramic picture we took of Two Jacks lake, near to Banff on the minniewanka loop (yes for you Brits that is the name of it ;D)

Any Wankers on that Minnewanka loop? Condor, now that Rose is a fellow Albertan, I guess she must know that there is some sort of (silly) battle between south and north Alberta. With Rose being in the former, and me being in the latter, let me suggest the north is better! -- here's a photo I took near Jasper in late June a few years ago, to show off the north (glaciers included) . That aside, interesting post by Rose on the rock show in Calgary next weekend. I doubt I'll make the 600 km round-trip drive, but it's good to at least be informed of what's going on semi-locally. Rose -- are you going to the show? If so, and if you get the chance to ask, I'd love to know more about "Hand Hill's agate". I know that the Calgary lapidary club makes occasional trips to collect Hand Hill's agate (near Drumheller), and I've seen examples of this agate in the provincial museum in Edmonton. I was planning to make a long day-trip to the Hand Hills this April, before the burst of new vegetation began to cover things up, but bad weather and tax returns hampered my plans. Still, if you see or dig up any info relating to Hand Hills agate, kindly drop me a PM or share things on-line. -Don

Hi Don Sorry I didn't mange to get to the show Saturday was very busy, and then Sunday hubby was sick - I'm not up to navigating my way around Calgary on my own yet and thing are pretty tight for us at the moment anyway as we bought a house last week and had to make a down payment on it - so I'm going to have to wait until next year, although I have been promised a trip to Green's lapidary once we move into our new house !
