Just checking in, what a storm! Took me two hours to get home going the loooong way. We lost power for 36 hours, but we made the best of it. My wife and son went to check on an elderly neighbor (mid 90's). She was fine, she was drinking champagne with a couple of other neighbors, who were also checking to see that she was safe.
I went into the next town to get some take out dinner. When I got back, the party moved over to our house. According to the neighbors, they were just checking on us LOL.
More importantly, I lost my internet connection for 2.5 days!
Up in the mountains, the Friday storm dumped almost nine inches of rain. Thankfully there was not any flooding, a lot of downed trees and boulders in the roadway.
I just checked the river gauge. The little river that runs through the valley went from 10 cubic feet a second to over 8,000 cubic feet per second!
Thanks for thinking of us!

Cal, glad you are safe. Isn't funny how a emergency's bring out the best in people? My power was out for 10 hours and we all banded together to cut up downed trees in the neighborhood with portable generators and chainsaws. It amazes me when times are tough, most people show their true colors.

Nice sunshine now and I heard from the ranch up by Hornitos. Was really worried about the ranchhouse as they had the worst wind storm in 70 years up there. Neighbor says looking up the hill she can see we still have a roof (at least the front anyway) and she doesn't see any roofing blown all over. Also no oaks across the roads which is good cause all that chain sawing is hard work. I do imagine lots of pines went down on the mountain across from the house but those don't bother anything and make good wildlife habitat so I'll leave them lay where they fell. One of our other neighbors lost the pavilion where he has music festivals but that seems to be the only real damage and we really needed those 7+ inches of rain.....Mel

Glad you are OK. I never get used to that stuff. We don't get to many really bad storms, but a few times a year we loose power due to the ice, wind or combination or the two. I had my picture window smashed by a metal chimney cap that got blown off my chimney about 12 years ago. The weather man called is a down blast.
