We had an exciting day out here. Driving rain and high winds with gusts up to 65mph+ in the low lying areas and even higher in the mountains. A huge branch broke off the tree in front of my house and of course, it had to fall on my neighbors new truck(only has 2400 miles), crushing the top and the entire left side. Fortunately it didn't land on either of our houses. Around the corner a tree came crashing down on a house and a power pole snapped in half across the street. Again, fortunately it landed in a sturdy oak tree and prevented it from going into the house. This is probably nothing to you folks back east, but out here we're just not used to this kind of weather.
I hope other bay area members are okay. If you guys see this, please check in. And look out Southern Calif, it's heading your way.

Been watching on the news and I have been thinking of you. It looks really bad. Post some pics so that we can see them. Somehow it's a lot different when you know someone who is there that on T.V.

Thanks Gil, We're alright, I'm a little worried about Cal. The Santa Cruz Mts always get hit the hardest, and that's where Cal lives.

Glad you guys are ok! We just had an ice storm and trees were dropping everywhere.
The following is not very important at the moment but later maybe helpful: The insurance companies are saying, it does not matter whose tree it was, the guy with the damage turns in the claim if needed. john

I'm glad you still on the ground Ed! I wish all you guys out there on the coast safe days ahead. We had south winds blowing pretty hard today....took the temps to the upper 40's. Guess what's blowing in??? The big Pacific Storm....and I can't wait. I like big scary storms! Steve

Whew, raining buckets here in Ojai too. We have a flash flood watch and I'm like four houses off the Ventura River but up a hill so we'll be OK waterwise. Supposed to get wind here too though and we have an enormous oak over the house and another over my rock shop. I sleep in the part of the house not beneath the tree in windstorms cause it really howls down these canyons....Mel

Just got my power back on after 10 hours. Other then my fence on my side yard blown down and my hot tub lid being blown off, I made it through unscathed. Hopefully Cal will check in as he is in a real hard hit area.

I was watching the level of the creek behind me very closely. Fortunately the storm let up soon enough and it didn't overflow. Thank goodness the ugly tree next door didn't do any damage when it came down. Darn! I'm really going to miss that ugly tree..... hehehe. Bob

Bob, its not over yet as there are 2 more storms headed this way. Keep those sump pumps ready to go! Hopefully that tree didn't take out your killer fountain in your backyard, that was a work of art. Keep dry!!!

I've wondered about y'all out there. Stay safe, keep dry, and it sounds like you should all stay away from trees for a little bit....

Had some branches thump my roof, but good thing the 60' redwoods in my front yard decided to stay upright! Always worry about them when the wind blows...blew a walkway trellis over, ground littered with branches, but I did okay here in the Central Valley. 1 more storm to go...

Having come out the worse for wear from Hurricane Charlie in 2004 I never want to hear about the devastating after-effects of Mother Nature on a tear! You are all in my prayers. I hope damages are minimal and that the worst passes quickly.
Wishing you safety and plenty of working batteries...

Looks like storms still on the move - hope everyone is doing ok. Hard to keep track of who all is in the path so check in as you can. Anyone heard from Cal yet? Stay warm and dry everyone!

Still raining here but only light rain now. I was surprised to see most of the nasty wind missed us which is very unusual because we live right at the mouth of a river canyon and usually the winds howl down the valley. Yard squishes like a sponge when you walk around and I got in trouble for tracking in mud ( Heck I just had to look at the rocks in the yard when they're all wet and purdy) but otherwise we seem to have weathered this one pretty good. New drain I built last year worked fantastic and even the creek in the back yard only got a couple of feet deep, so not bad at all. We dearly needed the rain too.....Mel
