I was cleaning my fish tank tonite and took out a opal slab I have been saving for awhile. I put the opal slab in there for safe keeping and for decoration. Tonite I cut off a little chunk on the end of it and while grinding this real nice opal orb appeared. As I have said before this is some really weird stuff. It seems the more you grind the more opal appears and this one had some real hard ironstone mixed in. Well enough of me babbling, here is the opal orb & the slab it came from. The slab:

Wowser that's a heck of a slab! The cab is just beautiful. It has a lot more opal in it than most BO cabs that I see.

Oooooo Tony, I would love it!! I have a special place in my heart for opals, they were my grandmother's favorite stone. She had a beautiful opal ring that was supposed to be mine but one of my stinking cousins stole it from her. So now, I cherish any opal just because Grandma loved them so.

Cher, for some weird reason I thought you would like this one while I was grinding this. Maybe the thought was heaven sent from your grandmother, stranger things has happened before. Thats not very nice of your cousin, she will probably regret that one day.

You have some of the most beautiful BO cabs, Tony! You really have a knack for capturing that fire. Wish you lived closer so I could see some of your work (jade and BO!) in person! Maybe one of these days..

were opals your grandma's birthstone, Cher? the old saying goes you should only wear opal if it is your birthstone or if it is given with love......but then i'm sure that is a very old wives tale.
dynamite slab and cab, Tony!

Ohhhh Tony, it's just beautiful, the pics are good but don't do the color justice at all. Thank you so much!!! You are such a sweetheart!
KD, I remember my grandmother telling me that so her's must have been given with love because her birthday is in March and the opal is for October.
