Hi everybody. I have a couple of pics to share. I have been cabbing about a month now, cut about 40-50 cabs and I love it. I used to do woodworking and really liked the grain patterns. Rocks are so much better and more permanent than wood. I need to make sure my stones are clean before I shoot them and make the size a little smaller. Bear with me. Agate- Lace Agate- Unknown- Another unkown- Royal Velvet Obsidian- And a close-up- Thanks for looking. Geoff

hi Geoff, Thanks for sharing those beautiful cabs. It looks as if you have been at it for years, not just a month. What are you using? Personally, I like the big pics, and they are so sharp. I am a rock lover/hound in Ohio, who hasn't made my first plunge yet, as far as purchasing a saw or cabbing machine, but I still love looking here and being inspired. I think it's gonna be soon. I can almost taste it. Love that first unknown the best, does it have any fire? Great job! Keep 'em coming. Mary

Beauuutiful cabs Geoff! You got me on that first agate!! Mary's right, it looks like you've been at if for much longer than you have! You definitely have a natural talent at it. Yep, the permanence and coolness of stone is quite seductive! Although wood is beautiful too....

Hey Geoff, nice looking cabs. For a minute there, I thought you were me! I'm a woodworker too and have always loved the grain patterns in the different species of wood. Mother Nature has a way with beauty, whether it's wood or stone. Not only that, but I see you're in the bay area too. North bay, south bay, east bay? Welcome to the board. There are quite a few people on the board here in the bay area that cut cabs, so stick around and keep posting pics of your work.

Nice looking cabs and I'm lovin the royal velvet - that stuff is amazing. You should get with Ed as he works with wood and stone. Ed's wood work is better than the stone work but we over look his short comings because we like him.

Super cabs for a noobie or even a seasoned cabber. I am a woodturner so I know what you mean about wood grain.

Thanks so much everybody.
I really have only been at it for a month. I did lots of studying before I did any work. I think being a printer helps. I have an eye for detail after 25+ years in pre-press and quality control.
Stoner, I live in the Oakland hills in the east bay.
Rockonsister, no fire in that one. I'm thinking it's some sort of Rhodonite.
I'm hooked!! I would cab all the time if my rough wheels were a little quieter (hard for my wife to watch T.V.)
