First one is what we call Devil's Toenails but some call clam chowder stone. Depending on the deposit the fossils are either clams, brachiopods or Crepedulids ( cradle shells). The second looks to be Sowbelly Agate from Creede , Colorado....Mel

That last picture looks like sow belly agate from Creede, Colorado. I've got a piece that looks just like it. According to the guy I bought it from the black spots are dendrites. No noticeable dendritic pattern though...

Are you sure that first one isnt' stromolotite from Wyoming? Well, not the first one, but the second one like the first one...if that makes any sense?

akansan, you are definitely correct. Duh!I didn't even pay any attention to the second example (pic#3) which definitely looks to be Delaney's Rim area stromatolite from Wamsutter, WY. Good catch! They are two different materials....Mel

I slept through paleontology... but I'd agree with what's been said..... shells in the first one.... stromatolites on the other....
