Hi All, just wanted to say hello as I am new to this place.
I have only recently got into lapidary as a result of my wife's jewellery making. We thought it would be a good idea if we could create our own cabs and insteresting items for her jewellery. Now our lounge in the house is a jewellery workshop and a good quarter of the garage is where the messy stuff gets done.
I soon realised how hard it is to source the tools and hardware in the UK, so Ebay has become invaluable, yet I shudder to think how much setting up has cost.
Today is being dedicated to photographing lots of Shalini's (wife) jewellery but it's going be difficult because 50lb of flame agate rough arrived yesterday fron Canada and it needs attention!
All the best - Dave

Welcome Dave! It's great that you work jewellery for your wife! That increases both your motivation in working and (most important) her tolerance for messing the house. Take care of the flame agate and then share with us some pics, please. Adrian

Good Morning,
thanks for your warm welcomes, I think I will be here for a long time.
I planned to set about the flame agate this weekend but the motor on the saw has decided to start playing up so I will have to get it repaired first.
My wife, Shalini has posted her jewellery on ebay, her user id is gypsy-shalini, none of the items listed are utilising our home processed rocks yet, although we do have a load of rough emerald just finished polishing, i will get some pics of that up soon.
We also have a 1 1/2 ib load of tiger eye finishing a second week of 1st stage tumbling and a 3lb load of amathyst completeing its first week of 1st stage tumbling, so they can both be opened up for a looksee on Sunday.
Sunday will also be a drilling day as the tiger eye nuggets need drilling so I will be to try out the "triple ripple" diamond drill bits that just came through from the US.
So a busy weekend ahead.
Cheers Dave

Wow! You sure do have a setup, and a lot tumbling right now! We have a few members on your side of the ocean, hope they can provide some added advice about suppliers.
We're all jealous - did you say 50 lb of flame agate? Whew!
Welcome to the board. Many happy hours of reading here, but don't let it interfere with your rocks and jewelry!
