Greetings! I've been lurking around for a couple weeks now trying to bring myself up to speed. What a wonderful site you folks have here. I've always loved collecting polished rocks. When I was a kid a friend from church that was an avid rockhound would bring me rocks from his tumblers/saws and I'd spend hours staring at them. Well now I've grown up and have a 4 year old daughter of my own that also spends hours staring at my old collection. I always try to buy her toys that she can use and learn from. One of the things that caught my eye was a rock tumbler! So I picked up this chinsey lil thing for her. Well a month later I'm realizing that I'm having just as much fun with this sucker as she is! Looks like it's time for upgrades eh? After lurking around here for several weeks I found myself over at www.therockshed.com drooling over the possibilities... A couple hours later I ended up with -6 lb Model A-R2 -Extra (3rd) barrel for the A-R2 -2lb Dark Amethyst -2lb Carnelian Agate Nodules -5lb mixed (Small) Rose Quartz, Green Aventurine, Lace Agate, White Quartz, different types of Jasper, Pudding Stone, Moss Agate, Sodalite, India Tree Agate, Petrified Wood, Turritella Agate, Prairie Agate -2lb of the same mix as above (Medium) -1lb Brecciated Jasper -4 cycle grit/polish with pellets Well needless to say I'm diving in headfirst : ) Keep all the excellent posts coming and I'm sure you'll see me around Josh

Welcome home dude. May I ask why you have a mixer for your avatar? I drive a cement mixer for my job. I saw your other post with all the pictures from google earth. I'll tell ya, I picked a bunch of rocks from our plant and tumbled some. Some came out great others were dull and not so good. try a tumbler full from the cement plant and see what ya get..

Welcome, Josh! The Rock Shed are good people...I've got a ton of stuff I bought from them, just like you, when I was starting to tumble. I'm a newbie, myself. This is a fantastic place filled with great people.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. ;D As for the avatar, that's just the size of tumbler I'd like to be running lol. Yea, I'm not giving up hope yet on finding something near that quarry, but wanted more info on what I'd find there. Kenosha eh? I lived in Janesville for 20 years, been to Kenosha many times.
