So here is the haul to go with the hunt. The hunt can be seen here... forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=Pictures&action=display&thread=21582There is like 20 pictures. If you don't want to wait for them to load, don't. I won't be offended. Just don't complain, coz you have been warned The whole haul after alot of washing and scrubbing. This is all of the carnelian that we found. The biggest chunk of carnelian I have ever found. I just don't know what to do with it now! All of the agate. Not as much agate as usual as we could not go to the main agate area. The carnelian and jasper made up for it though This was the first banded agate of the day. My dad found it too. I haven't found anything like this one before. A nice little agate geode/nodule half I picked up. The jasper. I can't get enough of this stuff. Those cracks are all fully healed with agate Now if you are snow bound at the moment, you may not want to look at this next photo. This is the day after the hunt when the rain and clouds had gone, it was over 30 degrees celcius. The photo is taken from the roof top entertaining area of the apartment my parents were renting at Noosa. This was my view while I cleaned and photographed the haul. Thanks for having a squiz at what I've been up to. I hope you don't mind SOOOOO many photos. I figured rock hunting trip photos are a bit rare this time of year. Have a top day and stay warm. Mike

Mike, those are COOL! I SO envy you that weather, as it's only 4 deg F here today. Glad someone is able to get out and rockhound for us snowbunnies. Looks like you found a ton of really good stuff! That jasper is awesome, as is that little geode/nodule you found! Can't wait to see what you do with that carnelian...I love carnelian.

Wow Mike...what a Haul! That hunk of Carnelian is really sweeet...Congratz on the killer find. I envy all the stuff you found...but the Geode half and the Agate your Dad found are my favorites. Thanks for sharing and us snowbound folks really appreciate the last photo. It reminds us there are better days ahead. Steve

Great trip report Mike and you're right, we don't get enough trip pics at this time of year up here. Keep them coming. I love looking at field trip reports. Great finds you made too. Nothing like that agate out here where I live and that jasper certainly rivals much of what we find. That carnelian is flat out of this world. Really intense red! Must be all that solar radiation you guys get oxidizing all the iron salts in the chalcedony. Lots of the carnelian in the US is only slightly orange. Man, your's is intense red. Wow!.....Mel
