yes you read it right and it does have to do with rocks
I decided to work up some amber. As always I start by checking for bugs. And this time I found some. This is a first for me. I have found stuff and stuff that could be a bug, but these two are definitely some kinda bug; Sorry not a butterfly. These are less than half an inch. Best I can describe is they look a bit like an ant. I used my jewelers loop with my camera and got some close ups.
This is the piece windowed in different places
Here are some close ups; there are two bugs. They sit like this in the amber
Bug
Bug
You can only see one from the front and the other from the back
In addition to the bugs there are a lot of air bubbles; which i have not seen to many of, but this piece was loaded with them
I did two more pieces no bugs so I did one display and one pendant which I only windowed the middle it had a nature hole through the side.
display; not very translucent so I left it rough looking
pendant
side view with the hole; there where some dried up roots growing through it
last a BO cab. Stoner gave me a chunk and this was my first time cabbing it. Didn't come out as good as our resident masters, but I had fun doing it and learned a thing or two.
Shot this sunrise about a week ago. When I first went out with the dogs the whole sky was lite up pinky orange and the sun was reflecting off the sky; by the the time I got my camera the sun moved higher and the effect was slipping away enjoy
