Just found this amazing board-- spent so much time reading I forgot to register till this morning!
I have always been interested in gems and thats how I happened to find this place. The work thats displayed here is just incredible, inspiring -- and somewhat intimidating. I have 2 tumblers on their way and I can't wait. If I can do half the quality of work shown here I will be happy.
My wife and I are a military family currently stationed in the florida panhandle -- topographically a peninsula that is partially protected by a barrier island.
Took a walk on the beach yesterday and really looked -- for the first time-- at the rocks I was stepping on. Dragged home some of the larger pieces-- cleaned them --but I'm still waiting for those tumblers.
Is there a place or page where I can identify the stuff I dragged home? I see some of the rocks I have --in pics -- but most I can't. Or is someone familiar with the geology around here?
Looking forward to learning more -- thanks.

I can't help with identification, but many here can. If you go to the Member Photographs section you'll see some guidelines on how to post pictures, and you can post them in the ID section.
What I can do is welcome you - Welcome to RTH!
