I finally got a few hours over the weekend when I wasn't working and managed to do a lot more inventory reduction with the 18" saw. A big piece of plasma agate proved to be mostly crumbs; so most of that went into a coarse cycle in the 6lb tumbler with hope that a few harder pieces might be left over in a week or so. Another piece from Burro creek (the first burro creek pieces are in the background); Then a whole bunch more stuff: The upper left hand area pieces were cut from #10 in this old thread forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=rocksidlib&action=display&thread=19079The ones in the middle, this stuff; is really amazing, they all came out of #3 in that thread. This whole slabbing thing is pretty addictive...

Nice slabs, mate. I love those ones in the last photo. What are they? The slabs on the left in that last photo look like some sort of camouflage pattern.
Very cool.

Hey Mike, It is one of the unnamed "picture" jaspers I picked up at a club sale here back in May.
I really wish there was a good definitive resource for picture jasper ID's as there is a lot of variations and most of them do occur only in specific localities.
With many of the old claims being exhausted or off-limits, and many of the old timers who made those discoveries passing on, its getting harder and harder to know just where some of these come from.

That picture jasper looks a lot like Rocky Butte.

You got the "slabbing bug" huh Pete? I love slabbing up rocks...but I'm usually too impatient to slab a whole rock. I do like those Jaspers with the blues in them. Steve

Woohoo, another slabbering fool! Put the slabs in kitty litter until you're done for the day, then wash them off in Simple Green. Cleans the oil right off.

Wow! When you slab, you SLAB!!! The ones in the last pic are the best.
Adrian
PS. Did someone else notice those two facts: - You cannot slab all that you haul; - You cannot cab all that you slab?

That last group of slabs is beautiful. Looks like you were a slabbing maniac this weekend.
