Ya know.. You don't see that tumbled very often... well I don't.. and I think it's not only different but something that should be done more often.. those patterns on those are Perfect! Great Batch!

OOooooh, very cool! I ought to do some of that, I have some pieces that don't have "scenes" in them that might turn out nice.
Great shapes, and I know how hard it is to capture a great shine with a camera! How long were these in rough, do you remember?

Nice. Is it Disaster Peak? or Palamino?

Looks like you took alot of time to do the coarse stage, those turned out great! I have to agree, I'd like to see more of that around here.

Beautiful work on some beautiful rocks, John. I second Randy's comment, you must have been so patient with the coarse cycle.

Wow! Thanks everyone!! I think it is Disaster Peak, but not sure. I got this nice chunk in a trade, I cut it into slabs and then took all the nice scenes for cab and tumbled the rest. A long time ago KD sent me a couple pieces made into fridge magnets and I have always liked looking at them here in the kitchen.
I did leave it in the coarse grit for a long time, I think 4 weeks, but would have to check my notes for sure. I do know I lost alot of volume, maybe 30 or 40%. Thanks again guys!! john

WOW, that tumbled picture jasper is a fantastic looking batch!
Now, I've got to get some (a lot) of that to tumble. I've never bought picture jasper before, so I'm wondering what is a good price per pound and what would be too much?

Great tumblies John. I've never seen it tumbled before. I have a couple of small pieces of Palamino in the tumbler. Now I can't wait to see what they look like finished.

The answer there, Captbob, depends on the type of picture jasper. The picture jaspers from the Owyhee area in Oregon (Owyhee Sunset, Blue Mustang, Wild Horse, Succor Creek...) generally go for more than the picture jaspers from the McDermitt area in Nevada (Chicken Track, Palomino, Disaster Peak(?)...). And then there are others that just depend on the grade - Biggs can go cheap or can go high depending on the grade and the scenes. For rough, you can find Chicken Track on ebay at about $1.50-$2/lb. That one is probably the cheapest out there. The most expensive on ebay is probably the Royal Sahara Jasper...although I don't know if technically that's a picture jasper or just a jasper that has pictures. $3-$6/lb is a good price on the Owyhee area jaspers. $2-$3/lb. is a good price on the McDermitt area jaspers. And anyone else feel free to correct me on this. I love the picture jaspers, but I can never seem to get them all straight!
