I know that others have had problems ordering from Graves, however, they do seem to be one of the few companies offering faceting machines, and I got excited about their spool polisher, so I ordered one about 3 weeks ago.
Well they were supposedly back-ordered on motors, and it was going to ship at the beginning of last week.
Still no word on when it might actually ship, much less get here.
Seems a shame, I mean what else do they need to do besides ship stuff to customers? not being able to do that simple thing doesn't bode well for a companies survival these days

I crossed them off my list of places to buy things a long time ago.

Thats too bad you are having isssues. I ordered my cabber from them one year ago and had nothing but a wonderful experience with them. I had my Cabmate shipped and running within a week, they answered all of my emails promptly and the machine itself is high quality has been in production for something like 40 years continuously.

They seem to have a real problem filling orders. It is a shame as all their products are very well made. I became a Graves distributor last Spring and have not been able to add them to my website because of the long waits I've encountered. The faceting machine I ordered in Nov. (estimated 4 weeks for delivery) is supposed to show up today here in Tucson. I thought I ordered in time for the Cloud's show. Not long before I ordered they had an order for 30 faceting machines. That ran them out of just about everything. While they filled that huge order all the other orders piled up. I ordered a faceting machine for a customer when I ordered mine and they shipped his in 6 weeks. They fill the customer drop ship orders first. The worse thing to me is they told me each week my order should ship "tomorrow or the day after" for the 4 weeks I called to see where my order was. Graves is not alone in filling orders slowly. Most manufacturers build equipment as orders are placed taking 4-6 weeks to ship. I lose sales because of this and go round and round with the manufcturers that if they had stock on hand sales would increase, and we would both do better and serve customers better. And, happy customers are more likely to be repeat customers.

I guess ordering a month before Tucson was my great sin. American Lapidary Wholesalers aren't answering their phone, and their VM is full, so I have to figure either they are in Tucson, or else got hit by a stray tornado in New Jersey.
So this morning I called Graves, and sure enough- was told that all their spool inventory is in Tucson, and I can expect to wait until the show is over before the equipment I ordered in January will ship.
A little honest disclosure of this fact would have left me a bit disappointed but nowhere near as PO'd as I have become in having to research this myself.
I mean I understand that Tucson is a big important show, but not every lapidarist in the world can make it and the rest of us would appreciate a little token acknowledgment that we still count as customers....

That's just poor customer service.... Making someone wait who has *paid* because of the possibility of someone buying.

Just for the fun of it I'll stop in and see if they brought any here. It could be they can't ship until after Tucson because the people that assemble them are here.

My one and last experience with them was bad too. Had to call them to find out why it was taking months to get my order filled. Never a word initiated from them. How the hell hard is it to send an email when you have no intention of filling an order at even a snails pace. I mean, I don't expect Rock Shed quality dealings but I do expect at least 25 percent of that quality. I wish Shawn sold everything I ever needed in life He is as close to the perfect business as you can come, I think. T

Too bad I did not see this article 4 weeks ago when I ordered my trim saw. Sent multiple e-mails and no reply...The owner keeps saying the guy who responds to e-mails is on vacation...(does he really exist?)...
Anyway order was supposed to be shipped with 72 hours of purchasing...So much for that.
Not to mention the $550 I paid for it is on hold so I cant even order another one until they release the funds.
So I am relegated to being outbid for small rock on e-bay maybe one day I wont have to work and can actually catch it at the right time and win a bid for a change.
