Hey folks,
Does anyone have or used the Lortone Exact - Span Rubber Drums ? How do they hold up? Do they run ok ? I'm thinking of getting one as they'r only $23 plus belts.
Thanks Wolf

Wolf, When I bought my cabber it had an exact span on it. I hated it!! A real pain to change and I could never get the right tension. The belts would slip after a while and I just do not believe the design is made to last.
I have an expanding rubber drum and it works like a charm and I can see it will last for years and years.
If you want my old one, it is yours for the shipping!! Just pm me if so.

I have an expanding drum and I love it. So far, it is 7yrs old and has served me very well. Belts are inexpensive and really last. Well worth it.

The ExactSpan is a three part wheel. Two metal center halves and a replaceable rubber sleeve. To change belts you have to take it apart. The 8" uses a slightly smaller than standard size belt so not everyone carries them. I don't think you can find diamond belts to fit them. The Expando drums on the other hand allows you to slide a belt on and off without taking a wheel apart. Well worth the extra cost.

Hey js , What kind of price can you give me on the expando rubber drums and belts ? you can pm me if youd like . I'd much rather deal with someone from the board than to go elsewhere. Thanks

Thanks Wolf I have an Expando, wolf. They're great. You definitely won't regret just spending a bit more to get one. It takes me about 30 seconds to change my polishing belts.

I've got 2 more rows of boards to put down in our bedroom. One down, two more bedrooms to go! *lol* Hey, I've found a little time to cab...here's my most recent batch: forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=ccabs&action=display&thread=21699I've got the 1 1/2" drum. I'm running 3 micron (8k, I think??), 1 micron (wanna say this is 14k), 0.5 (50k) micron and 0.25 (100k) micron belts. I could be wrong on the 3 micron and 1 micron conversions...I honestly can't remember, and I go by the micron size rather than grit. How's the saw working out for ya? I think we need to see some photos!

I've got a tumble batch coming out today, too. It's so exciting to see all of your hard work come to fruition after so much waiting!
