Howdy folks, Just another bunch of pics for ya to take a gander at. All California stuff and some very rare and seldom seen. Thanks for lookin....Mel My best buddy was fortunate enough to get to go on a field trip to a private ranch near Lindsey, Calif. where there is lots of agate which is unusual for the Calif. Sierra foothills. Here are a few slabs he gave me from that area: Unusual banded agate with what almost looks like some silicified satin spar on top: Neat little vein section: Nice sagenite: Very transparent green striped agate: Another slab my buddy gave me from a boulder he got on his folk's old ranch at Creston, CA. We hunt there quite a bit and it's an old beach with Franciscan material similar to that from the Stone Canyon area: Another gift from my friend. He found a whole vein of this on one of the Cady Mtn trips I missed. Very clean, pit free material. Just had to throw in these next two. First is Manhattan Mine lace Agate from the cap rock of the Manhattan Mine in Napa County, CA. This next is a slice from an unusual black base moss agate from Horse Canyon near Tehachapi. CA.

Stonesthatrock: That's my only slab of that moss. Wish I had a bunch of that! I have a whole bin of Horse canyon and have cut some that were black base with white plume but never one with moss like that....Mel

I always like seeing your material Mel! You always post pictures of material I've never seen nor heard of. Those last two slabs are top-notch! Steve

Very nice stuff Mel, you are going to have to open a museum, so we can all come look(or drool) over them.

Dee: Ya got to go down to the Mojave Desert. You can fill a bucket with good stuff in no time at lots of sites. I've got to agree, most of central and northern California is pretty bad hunting unless you can access private ranches....Mel

Wow, beautiful slabs! I like the third one and the last one most. I bet they'll become first class cabs.

sagenite is amazing stuff. My dad found a piece many years ago during his first-and-only visit to the Opal Hill fire agate mine near Blythe. Was the find of the weekend. Now he can't find it, since he's moved twice since then.
