I love green and when I found out Oregon has a green pet wood I chased after some. (Opppps! Top pic is blurry crap.) It's really a pretty green and shows good wood grain in some areas. I decided to throw some pieces of it into the tumbler and was pleasantly surprised at what came out! It can have alot of fractures in places so tumbling can be an adventure...but then I saw the orbs and I for sure wasn't expecting that! Have any of you cabbers out there been successful with this? Thanks fer lookin!

Wow, that's nice! And those orbs.....!!! It's funny, the colour in those first two pics doesn't even look real. It looks like a rock covered in fresh moss, it's SO green!

Orbs are rare as far as I know. My HB was a bit crumbly and had veins of more course quartz. Yours seems to be better silicified.

That sure is a nice piece of Hampton Butte Wood. Your material sure tumbled better than I've ever been able to tumble mine. I hunted Hampton Butte area only once...but we found a ton of wood everywhere. There is alot of neat agates in the area too. Maybe one of these days, I'll get back in the area to find some more. Oooooooooooo green pet wood, I love it!! I'm with you Liz, I really like green rocks and that's a really awesomel looking piece you have there. I've actually found wood that color in the woods up here. In some places where the conditions are right, when the wood is starting to rot it will turn that same green color, almost a blue-green. I remember an uncle of mine telling me to hold it under the light then turn the lights off but I can't remember if it work, I was pretty little then.

Green pet wood! Wow, this is amazing! And looking at the tumbled rocks, it seems the color goes into the depth, it's not only on the surface. Beautiful!

I've seen many, and now own a couple, large polished slabs of HB wood. Tried to visit it once when I was passing through, during a bad weather week, but the roads were easily 9"-10" deep mud and I was in a rental dodge durango. Hope to make it back someday though.
