Would I be a racist if I want to see a "white history month" and wanted the History channel to broadcast that in the lower corner of every show they have? How about a Irish History Month or a Russian History Month? Would I be a racist if I wanted to see an only "Miss White USA" contest? Would I also be a racist if I wanted to start a college for whites, just like a Grambling State University but for whites? Ok then, what about all the people that are involved in the Miss Black USA contest? They wouldn't dare let a white chick in there to compete, hence the name Miss Black USA. Are they all racist for not letting a white chick in it? What about Grambling? Are they all racist for denying a white person into their school?

When I was much younger I read something like this; (where, I couldn't tell you)
A child asked their parent: "If there is a Mother's Day and a Father's Day, why isn't there a Children's Day?"
To which the parent replied: "That's because everyday is Children's Day."
I hope this helps...

Well Here's my thoughts about White Only.. Edog.. Columbus day is the beginning of white history month. It was always White only after that.... remember? .... . And you have your own organization too that still tries to keep that dream Alive..... it's called the KKK..
And you have your very own White only club.. it's called the "White house" didn't think they named it after the color of the building did you?
Miss America usually ends up White.. so whatchya worried about that for I have no idea... And why it bothers you unless you are trying to join.. I wouldn't know either.. But if it helps..... You'll never see an Indian Only sign anywhere anytime soon!.. since after all.. We are a dying Breed..
See now don't that make you feel a little better? One down.. and only 80 Million other minorities to go.... LOL Enjoy life.. it's too short to worry over something so trivial as Race.....

I suppose by definition any sort of discrimination against "ANY" race is racisim so white only, black only , red only or green only is racism. However, in case you all haven't talked much with the younger generation lately, race isn't all that important to them. Maybe it's watching TV or maybe it's just they realize a person's worth has nothing to do with color but they seem much more unimpressed by color barriers us older folks have experiences with. And Roxie, look around you girl, all races are dying. In a few generations humanity at least in this country, will be for the most part, rainbow colored. Shoot, if we're honest about it, most all of us are Heinz 57's these days *L*. Old pictures of my family show folks in kilts, cowboy hats, Amerinds, and vaqueros. Attraction doesn't necessarily accept color limitations and nature will always overcome such barriers as skin color. After all, we are the same species..Mel

I'm not worried, I was only curious. The KKK ain't my organization. That was a dumb remark to make. Here use this when you feel the need, Nope that didn't help. Everyday isn't whites day. My point is that if there was a Miss White America contest it would be called racist.

I've wondered this myself often enough. There are no PUBLIC clubs that can be all white, yet there are black colleges, black clubs, black month...
If we're going to spotlight one race's history that makes up this country, we really should spotlight them all. Let's see - there's Irish American, Chinese American, Native American - all of which were treated worse than blacks depending on where in the country you were.
I'm not prejudiced, and if I can "ignore" someone's race and treat them the same way I treat everyone else, why should I then have the race that I'm not seeing shoved back in my face? Reverse racism is one thing I can't stand.

Hmmm now I think I'm the one lost here...... I always thought they used American with races to be able to tell the difference between the ones who are born here.. like the Chinese American from the Chinese who are born in China.....Native American meant those who were here first..... but I could be wrong.. all these years I thought they used it to tell apart those who were American and those weren't........But I could be wrong...lol...
All I remember is That the only reason They said Native American Indian was not to be mistaken for those that came from India.. even tho they aren't related people were calling them Indians too....
So what is the white race? those who just look white? ore is there a specific background they have and history they would celebrate in these "only clubs" I mean could they be from Europe, Norway, Scotland, Ireland, so forth.. or what about Michael Jackson.. isn't he considered White now? lol... jks.. just had to ask..
I think the main idea for them in the beginning.. was to be able to celebrate their history and culture .. and maybe it has led to more segregation.. and just think Edog.. If things go the way they are... white people will be the minority here in about 10 years and most likely will have their own week , month, day, club just like your asking for! ....lol jks.. I'm just messing with ya!

You have to remember that it was only in the 1950's that the Supreme Court outlawed segregation in schools. If I understand the ruling, The Supreme Court put a cabosh on the argument that (Seperate but equal schools" were okay. The ruling had far reaching effect. First in places like Little Rock and Selma where the Military had to be called in to allow black studenst into public universities... or in Boston where Police had to protect students in Busing Programs. Similar segragation had occurred in stores, restaurants, buses, country clubs, pools, etc Outward and DeFacto segregation exist in this( and every other country). And I would not disagree with anyone who produced evidence that minorities are even more prejudiced than whites. However it is the Powerful who have to change to even the playing field for the good of all.
If you buy off on this, it is clear that White People were the reason that Black schools and organizations were established. And once established it is hard to "Put the genie back into the Lamp".

Oh hey Mel.. been wanting to comment on your thing about all races dying.. I do agree but when I said it about the Native American Indians.. was because we don't even make the Census anymore for America.. believe it or not.. We don't get the same rights as the blacks or even the Mexicans... why? There isn't enough of us to count..
So as of today even.. A Mexican is required to have a minority in a jury.. And same with a black person..... it's against a Minorities civil rights to have an All white Jury.... But.. for a Native American Indian... That law doesn't pertain to them.... Trust me I know first hand... They say it's against civil rights.. and that would be discrimination.. But according to the National Census.. We are excluded from that simply because there isn't enough Indians to demand a minority on our Jury.... So you can imagine how many times a fair trial has taken place for them...... I would like to think that wouldn't be the case...... But the sad thing is I've seen differently.....
And My kid's. kids.. will not be allowed to be enrolled in a Tribe as a Native American recognized by the Govt due to the fact the Govt. will not recognize but one side of the blood line even if both parents are indian and enrolled......, And that blood line has to be over half in order for your child to be enrolled and that child will not have enough to enroll their child.. .. So.. you see I'm thinking in a good 40 years.. we will be but a part of history.. and there's nothing We can do about it.. why? because we don't make the census.........pretty clever huh...

Sorry Roxy - I specify Native American for Indians instead of just Indian as a familial response. My youngest sister is Cuna Indian from Central America, and we always had to say "no, not your type of Indian, but the ones from here" if we just said Indian. As for the other hyphenated Americans I mentioned, black history month is here to celebrate important moments in black history in the US. So, my "inclusive segregation" if you will, would celebrate important moments and people in the other races and ethnicities that helped build this country. That's what I was going for. And yeah, Chass - it's hard to stop something that's been going on in one form or another for over 75 years. The first person to propose the debunking of black history month would of course be accused of being racist, rather than anti-segregationist. Sidenote: I thought you had to be 1/8th Indian to be registered, or is that just with the tribes? (Family in OK, so I might be thinking of OK only rules as it's a bit more Indian friendly.)

Actually, I've been curious about a few things too. There's "Black bike week", Black entertainment television, United negro college fund (I don't think they call it that anymore), and the NAACP is actually a socially accepted group, while the KKK is not. I'm not saying that we should have the same things in white form, all I'm saying is that these are all forms of discrimination, yet all these groups were formed (just like a thousand others) to make me feel guilty for being white. We all know the history, but I gotta tell ya, I've never owned a slave, and none of these people who are looking for some sort of compensation have ever been a slave. "African American" my ass, you're either American or your not. We can't change history, we can only learn from it and try to make things better, not for just white people or black people, but better for all. People who dwell on the wrong-doings of their ancestors do not have this in mind, they only try to make things better for their own race. This is reverse discrimination. Right or wrong, it's the way I feel.

Whites, blacks and mexicans in Wisconsin can't spearfish, can't hunt anytime without a season, and damn sure can't open a casino. In Wisconsin Indians aren't held to child support by the state like anyother person is. They get to go before a tribal court inwhich they aren't made to pay child support. Whites, blacks and mexicans can't get cigarettes and gas alot cheaper than indians can either.

Well Edog.. and everyone else who feels the sting of discrimination...... I don't know what to say.. I've never passed a white person and called them any of those names... and I hope you never have to experience that......
I know alot of races out there are Bitter still and hold alot of hate inside them .. and grow up and raise their children with that same hate and bitterness... I know alot of races deal with that too... it's hard to ignore the past.. when you're taught at such a young age in school what happened.. and then told to forget it... or let it go.. maybe if they took that part out in the history classes they would keep breeding the same thing over and over.. I don't know..
I'm just saying I know it's out there.. and I can honestly say I don't know how my folks did it.. But they raised us not to be like that.. Even tho when I was growing up it wasn't as mixed as it is today... And getting along was Not easy at all... But I was taught not to hate someone just because they hate you... And I honestly try to get along with everybody up to this day regardless if they are haters or not.... I at lest make an effort to be kind or be friendly...
Still I feel bad if you are being treated bad by another race... of course I agree it's not right.. anyone who is treated poorly because of the color of their skin is wrong.... and those who do that are ignorant... simple minded because they don't take the time to get to know someone other than the color of their skin..... or based on something that happened in the past....
I wish there was a way I could make things right.. wish I could say everything is not as it seems.. But guess all I can say is it's not like that in my house.. or with me.. and I won't raise my kids to be that way either..... And hope I will be a better example by showing it in my actions and not just in my words...
