I was working on some freeforms today, cutting and polishing some Tahoma jasper I have had laying around for awhile. I was always under the impression that Tahoma came from the northwest part of the U.S. somewhere, but suddenly I realized this was not so! As I was slabbing one piece, I was confronted with positive proof that Tahoma originated in the Orient. Here is why I am so sure: Take a look at this (not so beautiful) freeform and tell me what you see.... If you don't see what I saw, try looking at it from this angle: If this isn't a dragon, maybe a baby dragon, with smoke coming out of it's nostril, I don't know what is. You can even see the open mouth, one eye, the eyebrow, and the notched frill on the back of it's neck! Ok, maybe I have the "brain full of rock dust" syndrome, but that's what I see. Anyone agree? While you are at it, look at this other piece I cut on the very same afternoon: This one looks to me like a one-eyed ogre, scowling with his mouth open, and with one tooth showing. I even see his other eye swollen shut (maybe he had a run in with the dragon) and a rounded, droopy nose. I know... I know... some people just have too much spare time on their hands...! I love surprises like this, though. Vance

Hmmmm, I kinda see Dean Martin smokin a bong, but that doesn't really make much sense to me.

Well there I was looking really hard for some sort of embedded piece of proof like a leaf or bug or something lol That is until I realized you were talking about that adorable baby dragon.. yeah I see it.. And that scary one eyed monster uh huh see that too.. Also see a side profile of a weird bird.... But....
Don't feel bad .... I do that ALL the time too...something to do with association or something(do that with people too) .....Some would say it's repercussions of a really GOOD past.. Or That One has an over active imagination ... But I'm guessing that means you're just really creative..... LOL... either way.. Excellent cabs and love the shapes too!

LOL@Randy ... I see them Vance, that's very cool. The ogre is really neat in a beautiful ugly way.

I think the last one with the image of a sasquach is more proof of the Mount Rainier (Tahoma) source for the Tahoma jasp/agate. One just never knows what will appear on the inside, until cut, eh!

Very cool, both of them! The ogre is my favorite, he's so.... gruesome!
Thanks for showing us.

Did someone say dragons... I love finding stuff like that when I slab. Great job on both cabs. That Tahoma is fun stuff.
