Please help me! Last week when I used by combo unit, there was some weird sound coming from what I thought was the saw part of the unit (LU6X-130) - I sprayed some WD-40 on that part but it still made the noise, but I cabbed anyways (I didn't need to cut anything) Today on a whim, I turned on the machine to see if it was still doing it, and to my horror, the belt that turns the motor, does not turn at all! It makes a sound but does not turn at all! kinda like a high whine NoooooooooOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Do I need to oil the motor anywhere, where the spindle comes out of the motor to the belt? This can,t be the end of the motor already! I was planning on cabbing tonite since hubby was out playing table hockey but now I don't think I'll be able to without help How long would it take to shape the rocks by scraping against concrete?? Please help me - I can post pics of where I think it needs it but I don't wanna spray oil where it shouldn,t go Thank you!

sounds like your motor has seized. You will probably need a rebuild or a new motor.

I would remove the belt and spin the motor and the machine shafts by hand. This will quickly isolate the problem to one or the other. If the machine is hard to turn, look for bearing problems. If the motor won't spin freely, again check out the bearings. Try to start the motor without the belt attached. If the motor spins freely by hand but the motor won't start, start looking for a new motor. On some motors they have a centrifugal device that engages the starting windings. If it is stuck with the contacts open the motor will just hum but will start and run if you give the pulley a spin. Be carefull here with running motors and pulleys and electrical stuff! If the starting contacts are burned or the centrifugal mechanism is gummed up you might find repair parts at an electrical parts supply. Bob

Tweet, If the motor runs without the belt then check the pulley's. That model has a set screw in each pulley I believe. john
