I called them on the phone the other day to let them know that I haven't received my rock yet (won it almost a month ago), the guy on the phone told me that it may have got mis-placed in the shipping department and that he'd go and look for it. He found it and sent it to me (2nd day air). It's an 8 1/2 pound chunk of fancy jasper from Brazil, beautiful!!! I left positive feedback. As far as I'm concerned, they fulfilled there agreement. I've always had good service from them, and their rocks are so cool! ;D

I've got something of their's on my watch list right now, but the shipping charges on it are pretty high. UPS I think, when they could have used a FRB.
Getting them to combing shipping charges has usually been a hassle.
Always received nice rocks tho...

Their fancy jasper does look nice. I don;t deal with them because of shipping issues, but I have been tempted to get some of that FJ

Steve- I'll post pics tonight. I have a few things that I gotta take pics of for posting tonight. Astrogallery shipping is high, but the prices of the rough makes up for it. They don't do flat rate because UPS picks up the packages from the store.

Yes, but USPS would too. I think they got a deal on the UPS merchant account that is sweet enought that they are making a good profit on the shipping. They've a right to business any way they please, but I find it disingenuious whenever they make that claim.

Yeah, I like the quality of their material but am put off by the shipping charges too, especially when most the lots would fit handily into a flat rate carton for way less cost. The shipping usually almost doubles the per pound cost of the lot but sometimes the final price is low enough to still make the rough price pretty reasonable. Like others have said, it's their business to run as they please but it's our choice to buy or not and pay extra for shipping too.....Mel

Usually when I add the cost of the rough with their shipping, it comes out to less than three bucks a pound. I base my bids on this, three bucks a pound is usually as high as I'll go (shipping included), unless it's something that I gotta have. (There's been a few of those too) ;D

The only reason I don't buy from them, is the shipping cost.

Astro Gallery will give you any excuse you want to listen to but the main reason they ship U.P.S. is they get a killer kick back by using U.P.S. only. This info has been discussed about a year ago in this same thread if anyone cares to check it out . We were charged twenty some dollars shipping on an $18.00 item. We won't be doing business with them in the future as one time is enough !!!!!
