Hey, look what I was up to one night this week. It's a piece of gem quality Cripple Creek Turquoise set in 14k yellow gold. Now before you tell me I don't know how to anneal and roll metal the crack was the effect I was going for. I purposely stopped annealing after a while and kept rolling the gold on my rolling mill. It's my shot at primitive work. Rick

Hey RG where ya been.. Gotta tell you ... I Love the stone.. and the setting.... At first I wasn't sure about the backing with the crack.. But the more I looked at it.. . It does have that rustic First of it's kind thing going on.. Not only do I now like it because it's black which brings out the blue more.. But It really does have character... and that makes it choice in my book!
Now..Where do I send my scetches and orders? LOL..

I really like the design. The crack in the gold seems to match up with the inclusions in the turquoise. Nice job.

Thanks everyone for your kind praise. Everyone I have shown it to loves it. Now if I could get someone to love it so much they will pony up the $'s to buy it I would be a happy boy.
Bobby1, the backing is about equal to 20ga or .032 of an inch according to my chart.
Peace
Rick

Well, it isn't black paint it's the reflection of the dark room I was taking the picture in. I have a photo cube that I take the pictures in. I need to close the white flap and shoot the picture through the hole provided. That way the gold should show up as gold.

Since there were questions as to if it was gold painted black I decided I needed better pictures. No guilt intended. I need the feedback as I intend to use this piece for jury photos to send to show promoters. Thanks Gang! Rick

Ooh, I love this photo, Rick! I figured the "black" look was just a weird reflection. I definitely like it better looking like nice bright gold.
