Greetings all,
I've always loved picking up rocks from wherever my adventures have lead me, which left me with bulging pockets and a desire to understand their mineral composition. I remember being gifted with a few polished rocks as a child, and ever since then I've wished to do the same with the minerals I've found. I received a Lortone rotary tumbler for my 25th birthday almost a month ago, and I've been researching (or attempting to research, whenever I can poke my head out from beneath the pile of homework that keeps burying me) what this tumbling activity is all about. I've come to learn that the process is far more complex than I ever would dream. I joined up to get some advice on mineral identification, tumbling practices, and to surround myself with fellow kind-hearted rockers. I hope I found the right place.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm still buried under homework and just started a new job today. Hah, that's life. At least I love what I'm doing.
Hopefully I'll get a minute to take photos of a few rocks that I've found and haven't yet identified. I may as well try to get it right from the beginning. I'll post those pics in a more appropriate forum after I snap them.

Start planning where you'll put more tumblers ... and a saw or two ... and a cabbing machine ... and bins for your rocks ... and start saving for a 4x4 to go rockhounding.
Welcome!
