I got some Lube Cool 4800 to add to the water in my watercooled MK tile saw. It really seemed to help the blade not glaze over as quickly when cutting hard stuff. But, at $80/gallon...that's a tough bill to swallow.
Anyone have any suggestions on something that could be used instead? Is anyone using additives in their water?

I add a tablespoon of borax to the water in the reservoir tank of my 10" saw. Does it help as a coolant? I dunno. It makes the water 'slicker', so in my mind it acts to cool it a bit

Roc-Cut from Diamond Pacific is the same stuff. It is the only thing they sell that I know of that they buy from someone else and sell for less ($42 list per gallon).

Thanks for all the info, guys!!! I really do like the stuff, but just couldn't justify the $$$ at $80/gal. Now $40/gal is reasonable.

Well $40 is always better than $80. Buth that stuff is mixed 10-to-1, so still cheaper than most oil in cost /per gallon. I used it for a while, but ended up just using a little low-foam detergent in water and draining the tank between use. The blade wore a little quicker, but no oil mist all over my basement.
I have been thinkin gbaout trying NuKut from NuGenTech. it will be about $130 to get 5 gallons delivered, and it mixes 10 to 1, and it is supposed to lubricate better. Still trying to decide about using a light oil like the drip-oil Mike was talking about.
